EXHIBITION QUALITY. A REMARKABLE INTACT ORIGINAL GROUP of three related items. [ONE] a Mulready Proof in unusually fine clean condition of the original un-denominated die. Full size on India Paper and folded to cover size. Free from usual foxing. A couple of tiny pinholes mentioned for accuracy. [TWO] a personal letter ALS of ROWLAND HILL to George Brightman Junior (1810-65 son of the Governor of Nova Scotia). Clearly signed "Rowland Hill" and dated May 29th 1840 "enclosing a Proof Impression of the Stamped Cover". [THREE] a folded wrapper annotated "Proof of original penny stamped envelope given me by Sir R Hill" presumably in the hand of Brightman. AN OUTSTANDING GROUP from the BIRTH of PHILATELY & classic early Postal Stationery. All three Very Fine for items of this type & period. Please look at all the scans to help form your own opinion.
