GB IRELAND MULREADY Distinctive *Wicklow* Maltese Cross 1841 {Jackson Cert} 141e
SUPERB EXHIBITION QUALITY STRIKE of this Irish Maltese Cross clearly showing distinctive "NARROW ARM" to the inner cross. VERY RARE. Rockoff & Jackson recorded just two other examples (1841-43) in their 2008 book "The Maltese Cross" (Vol.2) pp297. A SIGNIFICANT NEW DISCOVERY and the only known example on Mulready stationery. Mulready letter-sheet Stereo A19 employed as an entire letter with full contents displayed internally. Originally enclosed a Maritime Bill of Lading. *Offered with Michael Jackson CERTIFICATE as genuine (2014). Clearly dated 10th December 1841 by superb WICKLOW (Co. Wicklow) CDS date-stamp. Certificate observes minor faults but overall appearance is Very Fine for an item of this type & period. Internally hinge-repaired opening tear.
