Entire Letter dated 11th December 1813 from BRITISH OFFICER with NATIVE ARMY in INDIA endorsed *From BARADU 23rd December 1813" via SHIP LETTER LONDON & forwarded EDINBURGH 11th August 1814 to sender's brother J.Rankin at GREENOCK. EIGHT MONTHS IN TRANSIT. Very interesting & extensive contents re FATIGUE FROM CAMPAIGN, Army losses to PESTILENCE in August, September & October 1813 etc. Includes noteworthy comment relating to the DUKE OF WELLINGTON (Wellesley) & BARON HASTINGS (Lord Moira). Extract "Great changes are expected during the administration of Lord Moira. I hope to God he will be as Great a friend to the Army as the Marquis Wellington". Understandable Faults with such a well-travelled item but complete & overall Good for an item of this type & period. Enthusiastic deletions of original address when forwarded Edinburgh!
